This probably isn't the best place for this, but does anyone know what/where a change can be made for a specific icon to show up in the URL of a website. I am using Safari, and on this page, there is a generic globe next to the URL, on Apple's site the icon is of the Apple logo, on Digital Forest it's a tree. I'd like to add my company's logo to our website and get rid of the generic globe.
Thanks for your time, and the site.

dayhox,
what you are looking for is the favico.ico file and there are tutorials on the web that tell you how to make them.
Here are some links about them:

Quick correction: the filename should be spelled "favicon.ico" ... just a typo on your part, I'm sure, but it's very important to get the name right. Aside from that, it's ultra-simple. Just make a 16x16 or 32x32 (pixel) image and save it as a Windows icon file using a program like GraphicConverter. (Don't just take a GIF or JPEG and rename it with the .ico extension!) Upload the file to the root directory of your website. That's all there is to it. ![]()

try Iconographer from Mscape to create your icons in OS X... they've got a tutorial on their site that explains it all. Unlike Graphic Converter, all it does is make icons, so save your brain cells for something more useful and give it a try.

You dont need to go go messing with .ico windoze files.
Design your 16x16 or 32x32 icon in your fav grafics prog & save as .png
drop that in your root/grafics folder.much cleaner. ![]()

For the answer according to Apple's FAQ for Web Developers check out http://developer.apple.com/internet/safari_faq.html#7. The info includes a link with step-by-step instructions on how to create a favicon using either Adobe Photoshop or GoLive.
