Sharepoints, AFP/SMB, NFS and ownership.

Just noticed, that there may one again be significant difference in sharepoint protocols. As Panther will support multiple GUI logins at once, multiple network-homedirectory enabled users may *not* login into the same computer at the same time, if the sharepoint in question is using AFP/SMB, the problem is not present when using NFS.

One odd thing I noticed when last night making homedirectories for networked users.
on the server, ownership show correctly, for example:
User UID is 1027, GID is 20 (Staff).

drwxr-xr-x   4 1027  20    136  1 Oct 20:36 Public
drwxr-xr-x   5 1027  20    170  1 Oct 20:36 Sites

but, the same directory, when mounted to the client computer, shows:

dr--r--r--   4 1027  99    136  1 Oct 20:36 Public
dr--r--r--   5 1027  99    170  1 Oct 20:36 Sites

why does the GID change to 99? (and why do the rights go bananas?  8O )

Also, is there any "special" properties in the default sharepoint "Users"?
As in, if I make a directory /LANUsers, designate it as sharepoint and put users' directories there, everything works, but if I try to use the default Users sharepoint, with same settings, as the place for the dirs, nothing works. what gives?  :?:
